Persian Afshan

Oriental rugs are hand-woven carpets in the Middle East and the East – in most regions stretching from China in eastern Turkey in the west and Caucasus in the north to India in the south. Authentic Oriental rugs are knotted with pile or woven without pile and exclusively handmade, which makes them unique and more exquisite, precious and expensive than other types of carpets. Some of the most popular and best oriental rugs include Turkish, Caucasian, Turkmen, Afshan, Donkeybags, Prayer rugs carpets and kilims.

Brief History:

The earliest known oriental rugs battery were found in a Scythian burial site in Outer Mongolia V century BC The second millennium BC in Egypt and Central Asia had already seen the evolution of the art of carpet weaving in the V century BC a carpet weaving had become a well-developed art. When Silk was born in the 17th century during the reign of Safavid in Central Asia, Oriental rugs began to gain popularity and Europe started importing large quantities. The carpet for art and industry in the east also became a lucrative business highly skilled occupation. By mid-19th century, not just the rich, but middle-class citizens of Europe began to value and pay the exquisite carpets woven hand.

Oriental Rug Knots and tissue:

Oriental rugs are hand woven on handlooms. The carpet pattern is created by the knot (heap). Pile knots are of two types – symmetric and asymmetric. Symmetrical knots can be tied in such a way to stack a tilt toward the left or right. The density node is measured by counting the knots vertically and horizontally within the defined area along the back of the carpet. The size of the warp (yarn wrapped Foundation around the loom), the depression of the warp, weft (wires inserted along the width of the loom), and all the hair strands to determine the density of knots. A cartoon (Preliminary scheme similar in size to the work) can be created as a guide before weaving.

The loose warp threads along the edges are knotted, or braided fabric in the strip after weaving. The selvage edge is formed after a single terminal warp or rope made of warp threads separate terminal is wrapped with the threads of the plot. The cable side can also be added only after the carpet has been woven and removed from the loom, and a single cord is sewn on the side of the carpet. To create a rounded finish, a cover (warp wrapped in a separate thread, in a circle) can be used.

Type of material used for weaving Oriental rugs:

Wool, cotton, silk and rayon are commonly used in weaving oriental rugs. Wool and silk are generally used on the stack. The wool fiber is most common in the industry of carpet weaving and silk Oriental is the most expensive. Silk, who is also the toughest, is used to create the most elaborate and intricate, knotted rugs because of the possibility of creating unique and exquisite texture unmatched by any other. The cotton is used on especially for the weft and warp. Rugs made of rayon are cheaper and less durable though almost look like silk.
