Where can I go to find a quality local chess set?

I would like to see and touch one before buying, so you do not want to buy online or on ebay. I do not want a cheap goal, either, something handmade, or possibly in a large size. No plastic.

Ah … a game quality chess set. That's a completely different issue than just a game of chess. If you go to K-Mart, Wal-Mart, most point of sale retail you get shit. The pieces not be weighted properly, not cut well, and do not fit the wrong made right onboard. You need to know what you're looking for. Most decent games are made of various woods, often made of ebony or rosewood. The king is 3 3 / 4 high. And going for a triple weighted set. I've included a couple of my favorite places here. The question is where to get them locally though! My best luck is in luggage stores. They are often in the mall or in a complex commercial. Another good place is a major buyer of snuff final. They often have that sort of thing. Anyway, best of luck.
