Planning your trip:
Search accommodation and tours that make environmentally friendly certifications or membership in associations green industry – such as Green Seal or Green Leaf. Several organizations have developed standards to measure the environmental initiatives of the hotels and excursions. The values vary depending on the organization, however, green hotels and tours include reducing energy consumption through fluorescent lighting, the institution recycling programs, water conservation, either by installing Energy Star products, or asking guests to reuse towels and local purchases of food organic. When hotels and travel meet these standards, certified as "green."
Travel to destinations less and staying longer at destinations they visit. Air travel leaves the largest carbon footprint of any trip. Choose the trains and buses over planes as possible.
Do not fly at night. Condensation trails from aircraft have a warming effect greater than the night, trapping heat, but without reflecting any of the sun's rays back into the atmosphere as they do during the day.
Choose accommodations near public transportation or near the places they visit during their stay.
Al flying, book tickets electronically. It reduces paper waste and less likely to lose your ticket.
If you own a property (house, villa, floor, apartment, apartment, boutique hotel, castle, property, bed and breakfast, spa, penthouse, private jet, yacht or private island), become a member Guild Travel (www.TradeToTravel.com). Not only will you save 80% on accommodation worldwide fine will be softer on the planet. Instead of building more and more properties, we will share what we already have.
Before You Go:
Throw unnecessary plug in devices such as TVs, VCRs, stereos, toasters and microwaves. These elements can still use energy even in its off mode.
Set and the thermostat on your water heater to low values for energy is not wasted while you're gone.
Stop your newspaper or donate the paper a school while you're gone.
When you arrive:
Never buy products made from endangered species.
Leave no trace. Do not pick flowers, make or break the coral rocks. Not junk. Be familiar with cultural mores before arrival is respectful of the practices cultural.
Local Shop: Head of local markets where you can buy fresh food from local suppliers (reducing pollution required for importation of goods). This benefits the community by improving its economy and get fresh fruits and vegetables and even some handmade souvenirs.
If the accommodation has an environment program, please participate as much as possible. If you have questions about how, simply ask at check-in or by calling the front desk.
Never leave lights on when not in the room.
Lower your thermostat when you leave the room for long periods of time.
If your destination is a warm, close the curtains. Or, if you have blinds, angle up to bounce the sunlight onto the ceiling. This will keep the room cooler. Conversely let the sun heat your room during the day if you are in a cooler climate.
Leave without open the shampoo, soap and other items in your accommodation when you leave unless you're taking home for use.
Avoid room service and take out which increase waste.
Use water sparingly. In some places the water is very scarce and precious resource.
Walking or using public transport whenever possible.
If you are driving, please carpool and / or rental of a hybrid vehicle.
Take only the maps and brochures that will really use. If a large group, share brochures whenever possible.
Take pictures and leave the place as he found it. Never take the life their natural wild environment, including shells, flowers and coral.
When hiking or camping, stay only in marked areas to avoid destruction of vegetation.
If you stay in a vacation rental property, leave the property owner a note to let you know he / she can become a member of the Union of Travel (www.TradeToTravel.com) save 80% on vacation properties worldwide, and make a big difference to Mother Earth. Almost certainly the best advice that any of their customers have left!
