The Taj Mahal is the monument built under a ruler in memory of his beloved wife – inimitable and incredibly beautiful. This is the symbol of eternal love of the Emperor Mughal Shah Jahan for his wife Mumtaz Mahal, glorified by poets and artists.
Mumtaz Mahal, translated as the "Jewel in the Palace" was the name Arjumand Banu Begum was named by his future father-in-law, the serious Jahangir. Those family relations are a tangled problem. However, the most romantic of the legends says that Prince Khurram (who later became Shah Jahan) met this girl at the bazaar. The way he looked made him forget the filth and poverty that surrounded him. In 1612, when Banu Begum was 19 years old, became his wife.
In 1628 Shah Jahan became emperor. Of course he had other wives, but Mumtaz Mahal was one of their favorites – even traveled with him during his military campaigns and was his advisor. The couple happily lived 17 years, during which born 13 children. Unfortunately, in 1629 Mumtaz Mahal died during the birth of their fourteenth child … 36 was more of a considerable age for a woman at the time, especially if we consider the fact that the exhaust frequent deliveries of women's health. No words can describe the pain Shah. Her hair turned white, his back was bent. Some time later, took the body of his wife to Agra and decided to build a mausoleum must be no less beautiful than his beloved wife and no less powerful than their feelings.
The construction of the mausoleum took 22 years, over 20 thousand people built. The chief architect, Ustad Isa, was endowed with unlimited powers, which resulted be the right decision. Marble was brought from the quarry 300 km from Agra. Legend has it that foreign architects also participated in the construction the Taj Mahal. Those were a Venetian and French, but their names are unknown. But perhaps helped build the magnificent garden that leads to the mausoleum? The entrance to the complex looks like a palace of red stone, decorated with a portico with white designs. Above it are 11 vaults, two towers are located on each side of the entrance. The walls surrounding the garden are made of red sandstone.
The park was planned as a road leading to the main building, the focus is the pool. Many People come on the other side of the river early in the morning to see the building suspended in the fog. This feeling is created by its unusual proportions – height Taj Mahal is the same its width. Or it could be the main dome that takes the whole building into the sky.
Before you step inside, leave your shoes in front of the stairs. The walls of the mausoleum are decorated with mosaics made of thousands of skilled and semi-precious gemstones and an ornament. In the center of the building, there is a Jali screen, behind which there are two cenotaphs. The crypts are underground. The place is very quiet, the fall of the light rays on the cenotaphs, the walls are adorned with stone flowers – the eternal carpet covers the floor and walls.
When they built the Taj Mahal, the emperor wanted to build the second building itself, which would be the same, but black. His plans were not brought to life: his son Shah Jahan and Aurangzeb deposed former emperor spent his last days at Fort Agra. Nine years later he died. But this is where the story ends. Shah Jahan was buried beside his wife at the Taj Mahal. Today, Taj Mahal is a major attractions of India. There are always flowers, lying on the cenotaphs because people did not forget the eternal love story.
