If there is a hole, but an area of burning, you're in luck. This repair can be easy. Just get a small pair of scissors and start cutting the black or brown ends of the fibers burned. If the damage is not too deep, you can not even notice the small depression left. You can hide further cut tufts around the burn, so the mixture in situ in the surrounding area. Cover the stain with a clean white cloth or plain white paper towel and place a heavy weight on it (heavy books or work lamp). Allow the glue to dry for several hours.

Once dry, you can fluff up the fibers of the vacuum cleaner to see how well the repair. It must be difficult if not impossible to detect the damage. If some of the new fibers are up too high above the rest, you can carefully trim these, then it's over. For less than a dollar of glue can repair cigarette burns in carpet.
